Ativa desde 1985, a escola foi criada com o intuito de responder a necessidade levantada por moradores da cidade. A Escola tem o objetivo oportunizar educação de qualidade para crianças e adolescentes da cidade de Itaperuçu. Entende-se que para que essa meta seja alcançada, é imprescindível ser uma escola que transmite princípios e valores que são levados pela vida toda, que trabalhe de forma incansável para o atingimento das metas curriculares e que seja uma escola inclusiva, oferecendo condições de acesso para a diversidade. Não é necessária a criação de guetos de pobres ou de ricos, brancos ou negros, católicos ou evangélicos, ou qualquer outro. É indispensável sim, que haja valorização das diferenças e que se ofereçam chances igualitárias de um nível de educação aceitável para todos, a fim de que haja uma real contribuição para a formação de homens e mulheres que atuem como fermento no processo de transformação da sociedade. Almeja-se que em meio às diferenças “brotem” pessoas comprometidas com a comunidade. Para isso, são colocadas “nas mãos” dos alunos, ferramentas que provoquem esse comprometimento. A metodologia da escola é fundamentada em princípios bíblicos de educação, não se trata de religiosidade, mas sim de princípios e valores que contribuem para a formação integral do ser humano.
Pretende-se contribuir por meio desse projeto para o desenvolvimento intelectual, social e espiritual de cada aluno, demonstrando que eles são plenamente capazes, que possuem talentos e que suas atitudes ou a falta delas são responsáveis pela sociedade onde estão inseridos. Participar da formação de grandes homens e mulheres que utilizam ou venham a utilizar seus talentos para o desenvolvimento da cidade de Itaperuçu é um desafio que a escola aceita e também um privilégio do qual vem desfrutando. Atualmente estão matriculados na escola 253 alunos, dos quais 40,46% são bolsistas. A escola gera mais de trinta empregos diretos, predominantemente preenchidos por pessoas residentes em Itaperuçu.

Mount Horeb School
Active since 1985, Mount Horeb School was founded in response to the needs identified by city residents. The school aims to provide equality in education for children and adolescents in the city of Itaperuçu. It is understood that for this goal to be achieved, it is essential that the school transmits the principles and values that are needed for life, that it works tirelessly towards the achievement of curriculum goals and is an inclusive school, offering access for diversity in pupil population. It is not necessary to create groupings of rich/poor, black/white, Catholic/Evangelical, or whatever. Rather, it is essential that there is appreciation of differences and that equal opportunities of an acceptable level of education are provided for all, so that there is a real contribution to the development of men and women who act as yeast in the process of transforming society. One hopes that in the midst of differences there will “sprout” people committed to the community. Towards this end, tools that will bring about this transformation are placed “in the hands” of students.
The school’s methodology is founded on biblical principles of education, not religion but principles and values that contribute to the development of the human being.
It is intended that to this project will contribute intellectually, socially and spiritually to the development of each student, showing that they are fully capable, that they have talent and that their attitudes, or lack of them, are responsible for the society where they live. To bring about the formation of influential men and women who use, or will use, their talents to develop the city of Itaperuçu is a challenge that the school accepts. It is also a privilege which it has been enjoying.
There are currently 253 students enrolled in school, of which 40.46% have scholarships (are grant-aided). The school generates more than thirty direct jobs, mostly filled by people living in Itaperuçu.
